that I was buying for my Dad for Christmas.I was so excited when it arrived promtly. I opened the box and read the packing slip that said "Solar Crackle Ball Table Lamp Bird Feeder".I opened the box and removed the item and the box said nothing about a birdfeeder, just a table lamp.I removed the item and it was just a table lamp NOT a birdfeeder.I called the company and they said they would refund my purchase price and shipping--still waiting after several calls to the company..

Perky Pet Gazebo Wild Bird Seed Feeder Review

I am giving this feeder 4/5 stars because its only flaw is the wire that runs throughout the unit.It is not secure enough to hold the weight of the seed.But, once I added some twine and formed a loop over the branch, there has been no problem.Despite that, I would still highly recommend this feeder.The construction is sturdy, and now the birds are lining up to use it.I usually have 2 birds on there at any given time.Often there are 4 birds using it, 1 standing on top of it, and 3-4 under it picking up the leftovers.I also like its simple, but attractive appearance.A good product.

Woodlink BAF3GR Post Mount Squirrel Baffle Review

The squirrel baffle has a split that is supposed to allow it to be wrapped around the 4x4 post, but it is very difficult to get it onto the post.When I did get it around the post, one of the four mounting tabs broke off when I was tightening the mounting screws.There was very little weld holding the tab, it looks like it was mostly held in place by paint.I do not recommend this squirrel baffle.

I learned a lot about feeders after buying this and quickly selling it at my yard sale. the design has 2 major issues. 1. hummingbirds beaks aren't long enough to actually reach the bottom so that means you have to keep this thing filled up to it's highest point. Given the fact that you need to change the food every 3 days or so (depending on how hot your weather is), this leads to a huge waste of food.2.the openings where the feeding 'flowers' leak.
Not worth buying.

We ordered two of these Best-1 72 OZ hummingbird feeder on June 3rd and have used them for 2 months.They are leaking due to stress cracks at the top of the bottle where the hanging mount is attached to the bottle.These feeders were not built strong enough and thus are very poor quality.Order a different brand and do not waste your money on these feeders. 4Sock Finch FeedStation Review

I bought this on a whim, and I assumed that the picture on the box, showing clusters of goldfinches, was an exaggeration.It isn't.It's an understatement.Right now there are more than a dozen goldfinches scrambling around on my feeder.At times there are probably two dozen.If you have finches in the area, they will find the feeder.But I am a victim of my own success.The socks that come with this feeder spill out enormous quantities of seed.Not only is it expensive, it also makes a real mess on our deck, which I have to clean up constantly.As a result, I'm going to get a tube finch feeder and try it instead.I will miss seeing the crowds of finches clustering literally side by side, but the mess is just too much.

I wanted a feeder right outside my kitchen window.If you can put this feeder somewhere where you don't care about large amounts of spilled seed, and you can afford the seed, then you will love this feeder.

One minor quibble, you will see that a plastic dome attaches to a green ring, and the green ring attaches to the main body of the feeder.Both of these parts come loose far too easily when you fill the feeder, which can mean you spill huge amounts of seed.The trick, I have found, is to hang the feeder from a very low hook when filling it, so that the top of the feeder is about chest level.Then you can fill it easily, without the thing coming apart, and then put it back on its normal hook.I got a big S-shaped thing, from which you can hang other things.At filling time, I take the feeder down, put up the S-hook, then hang the feeder from the S-hook.

This feeder is made of plastic - the only metal on it is the hanger.The feeding holes inserts are made of a soft plastic, and the birds and squirrels pecked and chewed through it within two days.

Best-1 Replacement Feeder Bottom Review

Duncraft 18814 Accent Feeder Review

This is the best squirrel proof type of bird feeder there is - as far as I have been able to determine in several decades of trying to find such an article.I have owned many other types, including the Hertitage green metal monster weighted-perch feeders.I don't know how stupid your squirrels are, but here they just hang by one foot from the hanger or the perch jointof the Heritage feeders and stick their heads into the slot, holding the feeder open with their fat necks while they gorge themselves.Poles don't stop them.Greased poles don't stop them.Silicone spray and WD-40 don't stop them.They just keep working at it until they wear the stuff out.

This style of feeder, where the feeder itself is inside a substantial baffle, is the closest thing to squirrel proof I have found.I own several in different sizes.To successfully deter squirrels, look for these features:The baffle should be far enough from the tube or feeder that a squirrel absolutely cannot reach the feeder within.Ideally there should NOT be a tray on the bottom of the feeder.Spilled seed should be able to fall through to the ground for the ground feeding birds.If there is a tray, squirrels will just keep coming back for the seed they can reach near the edge, and so they will hang on the feeders preventing birds from coming.

Lately my squirrels have figured out how to chew the top of the plastic feed tube that extends above the baffle, just under the metal cap, until they open up the entire top of the feeder.If the manufacturers would fit a metal ring around the top of the feed tube, they could make this feeder even more squirrel-"proof".

Anyone who succeeds in devising a truly squirrel proof platform or perch type feeder should be awarded some kind of Nobel Prize!

Bird Feeder, Arundale Sky Cafe Birdfeeder Review

I have tried hanging this thing at different lengths and squirrels aren't thrown off. They sit in the tray and eat away. I have it hanging from a shepherd's hook- squirrels either climb the pole and reach for the tray (even if the chain is long like the instructions say) or they climb the fence that is 3 to 4 feet away and jump to it. I really like how much seed this thing holds. If I didn't chase off 13 squirrels or so at a time I would leave it outside. Instead I went to a local store and bought a feeder where the weight of the squirrel pulls a shield over the opening for food. I only saw one squirrel that was smart enough to figure out how to use it's feet and hands to get upside down so he or she didn't close the food opening. If I had more money to spend I would buy the squirrel guard that goes with the Sky Cafe and the optional pole that goes under the feeder as a stand instead of hanging the feeder. For the price of this thing alone I am sorry I bought it. I don't even use it.

Squirrel-Proof Bird Feeder Review

I have 3 (successful) birdfeeders and go through lots of seed. This nice looking metal, sturdy, 'squirrelproof' feeder caught my eye. (I paid more than here on Amazon,too) I've had it for 6 months, through an entire spring/summer/fall cycle, rotated sites, rotated seeds. I firmly believe it's a design flaw. The little perchs are too small for larger birds to sit comfortably and eat the seed. The space between the bottom seed tray and the metal openings are too deep. The birds need to reach down nearly 1 inch to get the seeds - too deep for the little birds. I've even found the spring-loaded cage locked closed after a squirrel had tried to get to it -the cage never sprang back up to allow access to the seed.

PLEASE save your sanity and purchase a different feeder!!

Contech Squirrel Scatter Bird Feeder Review

I found this terrific, but filled with a host of problems you won't soon forget. Not even a day passed before my squirrels popped the lid off the top.There is no electricity at the top to stop them. I spent another $20 and quite a few hours and modified the top and wiring to electrify that as well. Thank goodness I am handy. This could prove frustrating if you are not handy, nor clever too. The birds can't get to the seed at the last 2" from the bottom and that quickly rots and drives the birds away.The inside is especially difficult to clean and I needed a long stick to pry out the damp solidified seed and a lot of patience to clean it.A lot of what looks like metal in the photos is silver painted plastic and while I assembled it right from the box I broke the plastic top off and had to return it for another. Don't plan to hand the metal wire bar in the picture over the branch or you will break the top right off.You need to hang this off a wire. The holes for suspending the metal wire bar are especially poorly designed.The battery cover is attached with tiny screws so be prepared to lose them. All of these problems could have easily been remedied by the staff that designed it. What a shame they didn't. Overall its excellent at keeping squirrels away.I was so inundated with sparrows after the squirrels were gone I scratched my head and wondered what have I done?

Rubicon Fly Through Feeder Review

Bird houses and feeders made from the recycled milk jug plastic is a very "Green" design feature.I did find feeders made by Birds Choice made in Wisconsin.This Rubicon Fly through feeder is the same material, but a bit larger than the other feeders I found at Amazon.

Now that I have received the feeder, I see the roof design is greatly flawed because the lower edges of the roof where the water will drip off is OVER the food tray by a good 1/2".The rain will drip down directly into the food tray and get food wet.So much for their claim of keeping your bird food dry.Looking back at the listing in Amazon I now see there is no end view showing the roof lines in relation to the food tray.

I should have stuck with the "Birds Choice" feeder.It is about the same price, not quite as big but a much better "roof over the tray" design.I will add some plastic under the edges of the roof to bring them out past the tray.A half hour of my time fixing this is easier than returning the feeder.

Sweet Little Feeder for Hummingbirds Review

I'm always on the lookout for new and improved hummingbird feeder designs, and this Sweet Little Feeder from Abbott's Garden is a winner.I think the designer has hit on something with the flexible feeding port - better surely for the birds' thin bills instead of the hard and narrow feeding holes found on other feeders.And smaller really is better.Spread out many small feeders, and you'll find you're able to attract and hold more birds at your place on a regular basis.Also very easy to fill and clean - great instructions included.I'll definitely order more of these before fall migration.

FEEDER THSTLMINI MGNM Review

The picture in the description is NOT the item being sold.This one is the tiny 1 pint sized feeder without a center chain holder, and the stated diameter is that of the seed catcher at the bottom - not the feeding tube.I seriously doubt more than one bird could fit on this feeder at a time.
